Procedure Character:
Paraffin wrap is a form of thermotherapy in which a paraffin sheet is applied to a part of the body as prescribed by a doctor. The source of heat is the released latent heat during the transition of paraffin from a liquid to a solid state.
Procedure Course:
Upon arriving for the procedure, the client removes clothing in the area where the wrap will be applied and lies down on a treatment table. A nurse applies the paraffin sheets to the client’s body as per the doctor’s orders and covers them. After the prescribed duration, everything is removed, and the client is cleaned up. The client then gets dressed and leaves.
Main Indications:
Chronic rheumatic diseases, spinal diseases, and conditions related to the spine
Main Contraindications:
Heart disease, untreated or poorly treated hypertension, skin diseases, oncological diseases
Duration of Procedure:
15 minutes
What to Bring to the Procedure:
It is advisable to come in a bathrobe.
